Bram Stoker’s Dracula is one of my favorite costume movies.  Eiko Ishioka’s pieces are so detailed, accurate and inspiring.

Mina: Can a man and woman really do… that?
Lucy: I did.  Only last night!
Mina: Fibber!  You did not!
Lucy: Yes I did! Well… in my dreams.

Call me a fashion heathen if you will, but I really loved Katy Perry’s Oscar gown.  In fact, I’d say the Zuhair Marad designed beauty was one of my favorites of the night.  Really, there is only so much draping and forced asymmetry a girl can take, and when it comes to most Oscar fashion, it’s all about the expected, the safe and the tried-and-true.

I thought Katy Perry looked radiant in a gown that was anything but typical for the red carpet.  Weirdly, it reminded me of Eiko Eshioka’s muscle armor in Dracula — slightly off-putting and yet completely elegant.
