As an era 1950s produced some of the most elegant silver-screen stars the world has ever known - including, of course, the inimitable Grace Kelly. And so it’s with an appropriateness that Benjamin Kanarek’s latest pictorial for Harpers Bazaar en Espanol takes the title Elegant 50’s, and portrays, with polished perfection, the mood of the era. Model Michelle Westgeest sports blonde waves and full skirted frocks in some settings of Brobdingnagian furniture that make her look truly like a manicured doll.
I cannot get over how similar this silhouette is to the iconic photo of Dior’s New Look from 1947. Spot on.

I am very satisfied with the W/T editors switcharoo.
Drool… there is so much in this image that I want to own, from the Rodarte shoes to the uber cozy Dior ribbon sweater. In totally unrelated news, I’m still taking applications for angel investors. Just sayin’.
This one’s been around awhile, but that fact doesn’t diminish its stop-you-in-your-tracks beauty. The styling, the model (Karlie Kloss), the hair, the clothing: it’s all perfect. Plus the whole Dior Fall/Winter 2010 collection is a marvel of apparel design and styling, using chiffon, high socks, Deco cuts, fishtail braids and leather to tell a beautiful story.
